Drew Nicholas, Nikolas Chatzivrettas to renew

Meanwhile PAO made use of its option to extend Drew Nicholas's contract for one more year after an impressive second half of the season culminating with his Final4 and Greek League Finals performance convincing everyone (including a number of early doubters) that he is a valuable player for PAO.

Coach Obradovic also insists on the renewal, for one more year, of Nikos Chatzivrettas's contract. Although Chatzivrettas saw little playing time throughout the season Obradovic would love to rely on a player of such caliber as the team's 12th player.

Chatzivrettas proved his coach right with a clutch performance in the second half of the last Finals game against Olympiakos, with his perimeter scoring (including a three point made after a foul) helping cleanch the championship for Panathinaikos.

Earlier in the season there was talk of Aris BC offering a contract and big playing time to Chatzivrettas so it remains to find out if Chatzivrettas will agree to continue his career in Panathinaikos.

Dusan Kecman - PAO part ways

Dusan Kecman is no longer a member of Panathinaikos BC.
As expected the team and the player agreed to end their cooperation despite Kecman's contract with PAO running for the 2009-2010 season.

PAO has already filled its backcourt positions with the additions of Milenko Tepic (a former teammate of Kecman at Serbian club Partizan) and Nick Calathes from the Florida Gators.

Kecman is believed to have been approached by Greek club Panellinios, while Partizan might also be interested in getting him back.
